See Bishop T.D Jakes’ Classic Response To Ripped Jeans Criticism

What should one wear to church?

Bishop T.D. Jakes’s decision to wear jeans to One Church LA on Sunday to the contemporary church son-in-law TourĂ© Roberts and daughter Sarah lead, has garnered such a mixed response.

But Bishop Jakes was ready for his detractors. He stated that if people were as concerned with more important matters as they are his decision to wear jeans for one Sunday to the church in LA that he visited, the world would be a better place.

“I certainly want to comply with the word,” Bishop Jakes said. “I just missed the one about jeans in the pulpit.”

“When all else fails send everybody to hell who disagrees with you about blue jeans! Smh”

“I just can’t believe this has been debated by two or three antagonist all night! You don’t have the right to dress me! You do have the right not to like it. I probably might not like something u wear. That’s fine! If we just mind our own business, the whole world would be better!”

“I wish we had this much passion for the murders in Chicago, or those who are suffering in our cities. When I make post about helping the needy I don’t hear from many of you at all. You all seem to know what Jesus would wear but have no interest in what He would do! @art_vsz While you debate my jeans, tell em where you stand on women wearing make up, or female pastors. This kind of legalism is why so many frown on people of faith! In a word, get out of my closet and help the people in your cities! The homeless don’t care what any of us wear. Those suffering w cancer and disease don’t either. But you’ve spent your time arguing about something that is irrelevant! Most of the antagonist don’t even follow me anyway! Go back to your world and DO GOOD FOR GOD!”

South African king sentenced to 12yrs in prison for cruelty towards his subjects

South African king Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has been sentenced to 12-years in prison for arson, kidnap and assault of his subjects. King Dalindyebo handed himself over to the Mthatha Correctional Center in Eastern Cape province minutes before midnight on Wednesday, December 30, after failing in an 11th-hour bid to evade incarceration by seeking a retrial or a presidential pardon.

In a statement, Justice spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga said:

"We confirm that King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo handed himself to the head of Mthatha Corresctional Centre at 23h40 in the presence of the Regional Commissionerof the Eastern Cape"

In 2009, the controversial king was convicted of manslaughter, arson and assault charges for offenses committed more than two decades ago. He was sentenced to 15 years in 2009, but in October the Supreme Court dropped the manslaughter charge and reduced his sentence to 12 years on appeal.

This week he sought to further extend his bail, but a High Court judge in Mthatha threw out the request. The king's daughter, Yasmin Omar, stated that the judge had not given them reasons for his decision.

"No indication was given for when we can expect the reasons for the dismissal of the application and we will continue with the case," said Omar.

He is expected to serve his sentence in Wellington Prison, outside Mthatha.

The 51-year-old king, a self-confessed marijuana smoker, was found guilty of torching dwellings that housed some of his subjects and tenants who had resisted eviction.

He was also convicted of publicly assaulting three young men who had already been brutally beaten by his henchmen, and of kidnapping a wife and children of one of his subjects whom he considered a dissident.

The Supreme Court concluded that the king "ruled with fear and trepidation" and that "his behavior was all the more deplorable because the victims of his reign of terror were the vulnerable rural poor." It also accused him of "obstructive" action for changing his lawyers 11 times, causing 34 postponements of the case.

Dalindyebo became king of the Thembu, a Xhosa ethnic group that boasted Mandela as its most prominent clan member, in 1989. The royal family will meet next week to discuss whether a successor should be chosen due to their monarch's imprisonment.

Read President Buhari's New year message to Nigerians

Read below...

Welcome to the beginning of a New Year of the continuation of CHANGE in our beloved nation. I am aware that Nigerians have experienced a number of significant hardships over the past months. Living in the State House has not alienated me from your daily sufferings. I am aware of the lengthy queues at fuel stations and of the difficulties businesses have faced in acquiring foreign exchange.

These challenges are only temporary; we are working to make things better. When I presented myself to you as a presidential candidate and asked you to vote for me, I wanted to be a leader who keeps his promises. I wanted to be a leader who restores the people's hope in those elected to serve them. I wanted to be a leader who initiates positive and enduring CHANGE.

I am still totally committed to being that kind of leader. Unforeseen circumstances and other distractions notwithstanding, I shall still do my utmost best to keep every promise I made to Nigerians during my election campaign. In the past seven months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, my administration has focused on laying the right foundation for the CHANGE you voted for during our historic presidential election. Nigerians will in due course begin to enjoy the fruits of all our ongoing work.

The effective and efficient implementation of our 2016 budget proposals will address many of the socio-economic issues that are of current concern to our people. One area in which Nigerians, especially those in the northeast, have already begun to experience major CHANGE is in the war on terror. I commend our Armed Forces for significantly curtailing the insurgency which has ravaged the northeast of Nigeria over the past few years.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done in the area of security. Our Armed Forces will maintain, consolidate and build on their successes in the war against Boko Haram and violent extremism. This government will not consider the matter concluded until the terrorists have been completely routed and normalcy restored to all parts of the country that have been adversely affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Our crackdown on corruption will continue to be vigorously undertaken. I urge the courts to support our efforts and help in the recovery of stolen funds by speedily concluding trials and showing that impunity no longer has a place in our country.

There is much work to do in other areas as well and I have charged all my ministers and other appointees to ensure that Nigerians experience positive changes in their lives in 2016. We must reduce our country's reliance on oil. We must diversify our economy.

And we must do all we can to promote job creation. Our challenges are many but our determination to succeed is strong and unshaken. So too is our confidence in God. I wish you all a very

Happy New Year.

'They forced us to pray before raping us, to them we were animals' ISIS rape survivor reveals

An ISIS rape survivor has revealed the terrible fate she suffered at the hands of the ruthless terrorist organization. Nadia Murad Basee Taha, 21, from the Northern Iraqi town of Sinjar was captured in her home and sold as a sex slave to ISIS militants who considered her as an infidel and did whatever they wished with her body. Speaking at Cairo University in Egypt, she told students:

"When Daesh entered my village, they killed children, the old and young men. The next day, they killed the old women and led the young girls, including me, to Mosul. In Mosul, I saw thousands of Yazidi women where they were distributed to their slave masters. There I saw a huge Daeshi, who wanted to take me. I implored to another man to take me instead when I saw he was smaller. But he turned out later to be one of the worst people I’ve ever seen. The Daesh used to force me and other captives to pray and then rape us. We were not worth the value of animals.

"They raped girls in groups. They did what a mind could not imagine. In their so-called Sharia [Islamic law] courts, they had our names and phone numbers of our slave masters. They would call us whenever they wanted to spend time with us and sell us."

Nadia was brave enough to escape from her so called "owner" and has now made it her point of duty to inform the world especially young girls and youths about the growing threat ISIS poses to the girl child and World Peace.

"I am the victim of terrorism disguised under the cloak of Islam. All these crimes are committed in the name of Islam. I’ve come to the Muslim world to complain and demand an Arab and Islamic stance against Daesh. No religion accepts enslaving women and raping children. We have the right to demand a united global stance because we share others values of humanity."

Skeletal remains found in a shallow grave in Soweto confirmed as that of a girl who went missing three years ago

South African police on December 17, uncovered a human skull and bones buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of a house in Phiri, Soweto where a missing University of Johannesburg student Palesa Madiba was last seen alive. A police officer at the Moroka police station said he received a call in the early hours of that day about a buried body in the house. There, they found a grave in the house and bricks that was laid on top of the body.

Yesterday, December 30, the police confirmed that the skeletal remains found in the grave were indeed Madiba's. Brigadier Mashadi Selepe said they could not divulge more information to the media until their investigation had been completed.

22-year-old Madiba disappeared in August 2013. She had spent the weekend at a friend's house and was expected back home in Diepkloof but didn't return. The family searched high and low but every tip on her whereabouts had turned out to be false.

It’s easier to operate in Ghana than Nigeria- robbery suspect

Wasami Dennis, trans-border robbery suspect arrested in Lagos by RRS

A robbery suspect and ex-convict, Wasami Dennis, 32, has made a confessional statement to the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), that it was easier for him to operate in Ghana than Nigeria because Ghanaians are not as security conscious as Nigerians.

He made the confession when the police arrested him in Lagos in his hideout in Agbole Orile in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The trans-border robbery suspect, who hails from Abraka town, Delta State, was released almost a year ago from Kirikiri prison after he was convicted for a break-in robbery incident in Festac, Lagos, Nigeria.

“I was released from prison about a year ago. I was caught in possession of a stolen laptop from Ghana along with three machetes hidden inside the walls of the hideout,” he narrated.

He added that he operated more in Ghana than Nigeria, stressing that Ghanaians never challenged him in any of his operations.

In his statement, he said: “I was an expert at break-in robbery. I operated in Ghana, along west Africa Coast, breaking into people’s houses and making away with their properties and personal effects like mobile phones, laptops and jewelry. I used to bring the stolen items to Nigeria to sell. I have a ready market for them in Lome and Lagos.”

Wasami pointed out that he has repented from his old ways, emphasizing that he turned a new leaf shortly after he was released from Kirikiri Prison.

He maintained that his four months imprisonment in Kirikiri opened his eyes to so many things.

“Those two machetes found inside my apartment in Agbole Orile belonged to Area Boys operating in a garage nearby. They kept them there for whenever there is crisis among them. These boys are called Spartacus. They are trouble makers. They are always at the junction. I don’t know anything about it and I never knew they were there.

“For now, I work in Lagos Island where I help connect people who want to buy children’s clothing to sellers. I earn commission from this and that is how I earn my living,” he said.

Wasami suspect explained how he found his way to Lagos. “I was in Sapele Technical College before I dropped out of the school. I came back to Lagos to learn music and Sound Engineering at Alade Estate, Allen in Ikeja. After this, my father opened a shop for me, where I was managing before things were a bit difficult for me.

“Shortly after this, I decided to go into house breaking and stealing to survive, and I was into this for about six years. I have operated in more than five houses in Lagos here. All the houses are in Festac area because I know about the area very well,” he said.

He continued: “My major operations were in Ghana because Ghanaians are not security conscious unlike Nigeria where security is tight. In Ghana, nobody would challenge you. All the items that I stole are from Ghana. I did sell some in Lome and some in Lagos. I have a large number of people that buy the stolen goods from me in Lagos.

“Amongst those I sold the items to were Qudus, I.K, Hapier, Stanley and Kelvin. If I have large quantities of items I want to dispose, Qudus was always the right man for me to call. He would come to me, collect the items, sell them and return the money.”

Wasami further narrated: “another accomplice simply identified as I.K., buys stolen items in large quantity too from me. He once had a shop in Church Street junction, Oshodi but presently, he has relocated to China.

“Amongst the items that I have stolen before, the laptop found with me was the only one that remained with me because it has been a long time I went for operation. My last operation was in Festac. It was the one that led to my arrest and consequently my imprisonment at Kirikiri. Since I came back, I have never gone into breaking and stealing.”

Meanwhile, operatives of the Police have begun a manhunt for the suspect’s stolen goods buyers. The operatives are on the trail of at least three buyers mentioned by the suspects.

The suspect is currently helping the police with information that could lead to the arrest of his accomplices.

The image maker in charge of the Lagos State police command, Joe Offor confirmed the arrest of the suspect to newsmen and reiterated the commitment of the police in the state to reduce crime to its barest minimum.

I Switched Loyalty From Nyako To Atiku After Ex-VP Donated N 500 m To My Campaign – Gov Jibrilla

Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state has explained why he dumped former Governor Murtala Nyako’s camp and pitched tent with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Mr. Bindow, who was elected governor on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, was widely regarded as a stooge of Mr. Nyako, who was impeached in controversial circumstances in 2014.

According to the governor, his decision to switch loyalty from Nyako to Atiku was because of a lofty cash donation the former vice president made to his governorship campaign.

He made the disclosure when he hosted indigenes of Jimeta at the Government House, Monday.

“I shifted loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar because of the N500 million he gave to support my governorship campaign”, Bindow said. “During the campaign, Nyako and his son Abdulazziz were in London. I have no regret over my decision”.

Mr. Bindow also fingered some “powerful politicians” in the state as being behind the attempt to smear his image because of refusal to do their bidding.

“Apart from the money from the headquarters, nobody gave me ten naira during the campaign. The former Vice President asked me if we had any financial problem. So, I called the party secretary, Abdullahi Bakari, who put our demand at N300 million to Mr. Atiku Abubakar. It was after the submission that Atiku sent me half a billion naira through Jauro”, the governor stated.

It is unclear whether the governor disclosed the huge donation made by the former vice president to his campaign as required by law.

The Electoral Act prohibits individuals from making election contributions above N 1million.

Free phone calls for workers in 2016

Mrs Olatundun Adekunte, the Director of Information Technology in the Bureau of Information Technology, made this known while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

The Ogun state Government has concluded arrangements to connect civil servants to Free Voice Over Internet Protocol to enhance productivity and hitch-free communication in the discharge of their official duties.

Government is also set to establish a data centre across the three senatorial districts in the state to give room for rural participation in governance.

Mrs Olatundun Adekunte, the Director of Information Technology in the Bureau of Information Technology, made this known while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

She explained the device would be put in place at the Oke-Mosan Government Secretariat in the state capital to allow civil servants access to free calls during official working hours.

Adekunte also said that arrangements were being made to procure mobile phones and other accessories for the workers.

“There is an existing network for communication, though restricted to few individuals. However, come 2016, all civil servants in the state will be connected to the network.

“This is aimed at making communication amongst the workers more effective and thus increase their productivity,’’ the director said.

Adekunte said that the data centre, when established, would give room for rural participation in governance.

“This development will allow the rural dwellers have access to internet and online media to ensure their active participation in governance through a highly effective feedback mechanism,’’ she added.

Stop giving oxygen to Boko Haram insurgency - Lai Mohammed appeals to journalists

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has appealed to Nigerian media to stop giving oxygen to Boko Haram by glamorizing their activities. He said this while speaking as a guest on Channels TV.

“Just as I said in my meeting with the newspapers editors in Lagos on the 21st of December, the military has largely met the deadline to defeat Boko Haram, and the military has matched the capacity of terrorists to carry out the attacks they used to.

Of course, I also mentioned that the terrorists will continue to attack such targets as markets, motor parks, entertainment centers and houses of worship; and this is exactly what is going on. We know that in an insurgency, the war does not end in one day. The attack on soft targets will continue, but we also want to appeal to the media to stop giving oxygen to the Boko Haram insurgency. When we glamorize the attacks, it gives the terrorists more life and in a time of insurgency like this, the media also has a role to play, which is not to glamorize the attacks. What is happening is not unexpected; what is happening is what will happen in any insurgency. But the fact of the attack is that Boko Haram has been sufficiently defeated. Boko Haram can no longer take any territory away from us. And if you look at the context, about a year ago, Boko Haram had complete control of 20 out of 37 local governments in Borno state. There were about six local governments in Yobe and about four in Adamawa. If today, Boko Haram is operating from one or two local governments in the entire country, I think the military has largely succeeded in wiping out Boko Haram.”he said

N6.08trillion budget: 'Nigeria going the way of Greece' - PDP warns

Read the press statement from the PDP below...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown more light into why the N6.08 trillion 2016 federal budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari is a huge fraud, warning that with the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, the nation is going the way of Greece.
Speaking with journalists yesterday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, explained that a breakdown of the N1.84 trillion shows that Nigeria would be borrowing N5 billion a day for the next 365 days, starting from January I, 2016, without corresponding provision for economic production and a clear repayment plan, a scenario that spells doom for the future of the nation.
According to Metuh, “Some people may be wondering why we raised an alarm about the budget. The reason is simple. When we analyzed the budget, we discovered it is a misshapen attempt at a Keynesian economics of applying deficit spending to stimulate growth even when studies have proven that GDP growth rates decrease by over 50% when debt goes from low or moderate to high. But then we know the borrowing here is to pay huge campaign debt and fund a political war chest.
"By every standard, this budget is a booby trap against the nation. When you break down the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, you discover that it amounts to borrowing N5 billion everyday for the 365 days in 2016. The questions are: for what specific projects are they borrowing N5 billion per day and how do they intend to pay back?
“The President should explain to Nigerians how they intend to pay back the loan. Is it by continuous borrowing to service the interests, and does he intend to accumulate colossal debt for future generations of Nigerians?
"The truth is that this administration cannot justify this proposal. There is no known economy in the world where you can justify borrowing N1.84 trillion without specific projects and precise repayment outline. This is worse still in an oil-driven, mono-economy at a time crude oil is selling at $30 dollars per barrel and is speculated to go down to about $20 dollars or even lower in the next one year. The idea can only come when you diversify the economy and boost production capacity in manufacturing and other critical sectors, a direction, which the budget clearly failed to provide.
"From all indicators, the borrowing will be negative. They are driving us to be like Greece, and to plunge us into unnecessary debt. When the PDP took office in 1999, we achieved the cancellation of inherited debts. This administration, in seeking to accumulate debts, should know that there is no possibility that any country in the world will give us debt cancellation anymore.”
Metuh added, "More importantly, we are really worried about negative economic policies of the present administration and the copying of strategies that failed in other economies. Recall that we had earlier alerted on the negative consequences of the retrogressive foreign exchange controls wherein this government is making it impossible for honest Nigerians to engage in free trade and regulate their personal activities.
“There seems to be the erroneous belief that the controls will create foreign exchange stability or strengthen the Naira by limiting foreign currency outflows. This policy had badly affected other countries in the recent past; including Argentina, whose new government had to reverse the policy to save their economy. Why then are we copying a policy that failed in other countries?
“In practice, the kind of crude controls the Federal Government is implementing have been proven ineffective in preventing capital flight. By limiting the local availability of foreign exchange, the controls have instead increased the demand for foreign exchange, putting greater pressure on the naira and achieving the exact opposite of what the government in its naivety believed would happen.
“The negative impacts of the ill-conceived controls include the hindering of international trade and discouraging of foreign investment. We have seen first-hand the crippling of the private sector in the last six months, upon the implementation of these measures were out. Traders, importers and all manner of businesses are being destroyed as a result of the contrived unavailability of foreign exchange.”
The PDP spokesman challenged the Federal Government to a public and open debate on the budget devoid of the sentiments of the APC-controlled National Assembly and who are minded against any cuts in their own allocation.

Photos: Dying 8-year-old girl's parents to donate her organs to save five lives

8-year-old Shiqi lost her battle against brain tumor but she will be saving five more lives after her parents decided to donate her organs after death. When Shiqi was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her brain in November, doctors told her parents that it would be extremely difficult for the surgery to succeed. And even if it had succeeded, her life would have been extended by only three months.

Shiqi’s parents, both migrant workers in Shenzhen, decided to donate their daughter’s organs after watching Shiqi suffer from pain.

"There are things we may not be able to hold, but we can pass down our girl’s life and love to someone else," the couple told Chongqing Daily.

Shiqi’s pair of corneas, liver and kidneys will be donated among five people. Her body will also be donated to a medical school for research.

Ladies, See The Reasons Why Waist Training Is Bad For Your Health (Photo)

Waist trainer, body shapers and corsets have been used by women for centuries. But in recent times, it has become unusually popular and over endorsed by high profile celebrities all over the world. They have been said to reduce the size of the midsection and make the waist slimmer.

Though research has shown that waist trainers don’t really work, simply sticking to the right diet and doing exercises would naturally help reduce the waist line. Women would rather wear waist trainers because high profile celebrities endorse them as the secret behind their great bodies.

According to those in support of waist trainers, waist training is said to be a permanent means of waist reduction and re-shaping achieved by putting on a waist trainer, regular exercise and a healthy diet. Sellers of the waist trainers go as far as giving an assurance of a slimmer waist line if they are worn up to six hours daily for about a month.

Some women wear waist trainers in the quest for a permanent slim waistline, while others put it on for temporary purposes to enhance their figures on certain outfits and maybe boost their confidence.

However doctor have warned that use of waist trainers is potentially dangerous. They say that women need to understand that the body shapers or waist trainers don’t help with weight loss. In fact, if it is worn too tight, it can cause digestive problem and affect food intake. It can also harm the major internal organs in the stomach.

The best way to loose weight or tummy fat, remains exercise and a healthy diet. If at all anyone wants to use a waist trainer, it should be worn in moderation and not too tight, as they can cause a lot of damage to the internal organs and it also causes a lot of pain and discomfort. It could also cause compressed lungs and fractured ribs.

There’s been no actual scientific proof that waist trainers work. Waist trainers are not totally a healthy way to lose belly fat. They are totally uncomfortable and damage internal organs. For a flat tummy, exercises and a proper nutrition is the best way.

MI Reveals He Lives in Mortal Fear of Fair Girls cos Most of Them are Not Natural

Everybody has got their phobias. For some, it is fear of water and for others it may be fire or even the dark. The legendary Gaul tribe historically were renowned for their fearlessness but they had the mortal fear of the heavens falling down on them.
For our top rap star, Mr Incredible Abaga, his fear has to do with the so-called light-skinned girls.

MI confessed to Potpourri in an interview that he lives in mortal fear of fair girls because he believes most of them are not natural. He said before he would take one for a wife he would need to see a picture of her as a child just to make sure she is naturally fair and not artificial. According to him,

most girls have bleached their skins for so long that it almost looks natural.

“ Talking about the physical side of what I want in a woman, I want my children to be tall, so, she must be tall because I am not tall. Then I don’t care about complexion. If she is fair, that would be a problem because I would have to see her childhood picture to confirm if she’s natural or artificial. Most ladies that claim to be fair or appear to be fair these days get unnatural means to achieve it. So, getting her childhood picture would tell me all I need to know concerning her true complexion”, he declares

He however conceded that he would take in any girl claiming to have got pregnant for him if he has the proof that they have had sexual relations before.

“Yes, if I have a proof that we have been together and done it because I believe that the best way for a child to be raised is for both parents to be around. Look at somebody like 2Face he has shown love to all his kids and they are very close. Not only that, he has also maintained a good relationship with the mothers. When such situations arise, the best you can do is to make the most of it by staying true to yourself and be fair to all concerned” he quipped.

I Bled Profusely, Fainted as ‘Suspected Ritualist’ Raped Me' —11 -yr-old Girl

When Mrs Lawal sent her 11-year-old grand-daughter (names withheld) on an errand to deliver okro to a customer, she did not envisage that the girl would be ambushed not to talk of being raped.

The fate that befell the grand-daughter on November 29, 2015, at Pure Water Bus Stop along Lagos-Badagry Road, was better imagined than experienced; she was found lying on a culvert unconscious, with blood all over her body.

It was learned that victim was ambushed on her way to the next street when a 27-year-old bakery worker, identified as Sule, allegedly ambushed her, dragged her to an uncompleted building and raped her.

It was alleged that Sule then abandoned the little girl there. She regained consciousness and barely

able to walk out of the uncompleted building when she collapsed on a culvert near Adebola International School, along palace road.

The suspect allegedly ran away after the rape, but police officers from Morogbo Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended him a week later.

Narrating her ordeal, the Primary 3 pupil said:

‘’After my grandma returned from the market that day, she sent me to her customer who sells cooked food at the other street. She asked me to supply her fresh okro which the customer had ordered for.

It was while I was on my way there that uncle Sule, who works in a bakery at Itoro area, called me. He said he wanted to buy okro for his wife. I told him the okro was not for sale, and that my mother’s friend had ordered for it. He said I should follow him, but I refused. All of a sudden, he grabbed me and dragged me to an uncompleted building. When I tried to shout, he used his hand to cover my mouth. As I tried to struggle, he tore my clothes and removed my pants. He also used his nails to injure my back as I attempted to escape, he over powered me and raped me.””

Mrs Lawal, the grandma, also gave her perspective of the incident. She stated:

“After waiting for about 30 minutes for her to come back from the errand, I started looking for her because the place where she was supposed to take the okro to was the next street, less than 10 minutes’ walk.

It was around 2pm that I asked her to go and give the okro to my customer who placed the order. After waiting for her to come, I started looking for her before an Okada man came to alert me that they had found my grand-daughter at about 2:30pm, and that she was lying unconscious on a culvert close to Adebola School.

When I got there, onlookers had gathered at the scene. I was pained at what I saw; my little girl soaked in her own blood, her clothes torn. It was obvious she had been raped, as she was bleeding profusely, but because she was unconscious we didn’t know who was responsible. Immediately, I called my husband and he asked me to report the case to the police. When we got to Morogbo Police Station, they gave us police report and referred us to the General Hospital, Badagry.’’

She continued:

“A doctor’s report from the hospital confirmed that my grand child was raped, as she had deep cuts and severe injuries inflicted on her virginal which caused the bleeding. The doctor stated that because of complications arising from the rape, her womb had been affected and that she needed urgent surgery. So they referred us to Igando General Hospital, along Iba -LASU road where they said they had the facility to handle her case.”’

Also speaking on the incident, Mr Lawal, the grandfather of the victim, said:

“I was not at home when my wife called me that something terrible had happened. Immediately, I asked her to go the police station to report the case. I met her at Morogbo Divisional Police Station.

“From Badagry General Hospital, I had to charter a cab that took us to Igando General Hospital, but because of traffic, we did not get to Igando until around 11pm and, by 12 midnight, she was in the theater because of the serious nature of her case. She was on admission from that day till Sunday when she was discharged.

’All we want is for justice to be done. Sincerely, we don’t know the effect of this rape on this little girl. We don’t know if the rapist did it for ritual purposes. We want justice because we don’t know the outcome of this. Already, we have spent about N150, 000 on the treatment and surgery she underwent. Currently, the police at Panti are demanding money to continue the prosecution of the case. One of them asked for N20, 000.”

It was gathered that the case was transferred from Morogbo to Lagos State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Panti, for further investigation and the girl’s torn clothes stained with blood are being used as exhibits.

It was gathered that the victim, who is the first child of her mother, has been living with her grandparents since she was six years old.

Photo: Lagos doctor dies after attending to patient

A Lagos-based medical doctor identified as Dr Akingbade of Veritas Clinics Limited, College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye Lagos died inside his office shortly after attending to a patient recently. According to a report by Vanguard , family sources say he might have died from exhaustion and stress but also had a history of hypertension. One of the nurses on duty, Toyin Ifesan, while narrating what happened said

“Our boss died at about 10.30pm shortly after he had closed for consultation. He went to see a patient on admission. Thereafter, he retired to his office and sat down. A nurse later went in there to ask him to go upstairs, where we have sleeping facilities, to sleep, having been working since morning.

On getting to the office, the nurse spoke to him but she got no response. She then pushed him, only to find that Dr Akingbade had passed on. The situation attracted everybody in the clinic. He was not sick before death. The only thing we noticed was that, on that day, he was not jovial as he used to be. Unlike him, he talked to the staff without looking at their faces. He looked at the floor while talking to the staff. Our late boss was a very jovial person. He joked a lot with the staff as well as with patients before attending to them. He would ask the patient where he came from, and when he told the place the patient came from, always had one or two things to say about the patients place and people. He was a problem solver when it came to illnesses. If you cry to his office, you will smile coming out. He hardly attended social functions because of the fear that a critically ill patient that may be bought to his clinic may die before returning. So, he was always in the clinic most of the time. Even anytime he hired a doctor to help attend to patients, most of patients still preferred his consultation because of his wide experience. Some would wait, no matter how long, to see him. Others would go and come back.”she said He will be buried early next year.

What The Witches Said by Reuben Abati

Article by Reuben Abati. Read below...

"How was Christmas?”

“It’s come and gone. Life goes on. We thank God for the gift of life.”

“Life will always go on.”

“But without life, we can’t have hope.”

“Without hope, life has no meaning.”

“I am still in a Christmas mood though. I get a chance to rest a lot during holidays”

“Where were you?”

“I was in my home town, the city of hope. I refused to be deterred by fuel scarcity, the scarcity of cash and the scarcity of goodwill.”

“That your town where nobody sells a brand new car, no single car mart where you can get tear rubber, all the major streets are littered with

Tokunbo vehicles on sale. Yeah, the town of hope.”

“Talking about hope, you know. During Christmas, I saw a story about Christmas in Senegal, showing how in a country with about 94% of the population being Muslims, Christmas is celebrated.”

“By Muslims?”

“Yes. Muslims wearing Father Christmas clothes, decorating their homes for Christmas and joining the small percentage of Christians to celebrate.”

“Are you sure the attraction is not commerce? Christmas is big business, and Senegal is a major tourist destination.”

“I think it is more about religious tolerance in that country and people learning to accommodate and enjoy diversity. For me, that is the message. People can belong to different religious faiths and yet live happily together.”

“Hmm. We need that message in Nigeria.”

“Ironically, something like that also actually happened in Nigeria, this Christmas”

“Where?”

 “In Kaduna.”

“When? How?”

“I learnt some Muslim women went to Kaduna prison to give food to prisoners to celebrate Christmas. “

“Christmas or Eid el Maulud? You know there were two events: the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and that of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“I am sure. The Muslim women visited the prison on Christmas Day. And at the Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry, also in Kaduna, more than 150 Muslims attended Christmas Day church service.”

“If what you are saying is true, then that is great, beautiful, fantastic. Religion has done too much damage in our society. Can you imagine some people going to destroy somebody’s mother’s grave just because they do not like his brand of worship? People should stop killing the living and the dead because of religious differences. We should accommodate our differences and join hands to move Nigeria forward.”

“I know. But how far should this accommodation thing go? Should it also include witches?”

“Witchcraft?”

“Yes.”

“Hey, blood of Jesus!”

“Look at you. Where were you when the other day, the spokesman for the Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WIZAN) issued a press statement saying they the white witches of Nigeria support President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign”

“White witches. Winch dey get colour?’

“Na so I hear oh. White winch, Black winch, Red winch”

“All of them winching, winching people from the pit of darkness. Chei, blood of Jesus!”

“The spokesman for White Witches said they are good people with members in every state of the Federation and that as patriots, if they are invited, they are ready to assist the government to bring corrupt persons to book.”

“Witches have a spokesman and a nationwide network, and they now issue press statements? Father, your words are forever true. End time is here! And Nigeria never fails to surprise somebody; everyday, every minute, something new always crops up in this country.”

“I don’t get you. But you just spoke about diversity, accommodation, inclusiveness, and now you are contradicting yourself.”

“Not witchcraft please. Light and darkness cannot mix. I support freedom yes, inclusiveness and all that, but not the kind of support that will take me to Hell-fire.”

“Hell is in your mind. Heaven is a mythological construct. But look at the proposal. The witches want to help the government.”

“How? Will the Federal Government set up a Special Court for White Witches fighting Corruption?”

“I guess they will be very effective. See how you’ve been shivering since you heard that witches have become nationalists and change agents. Only the guilty are afraid.”

“Will they also help to resolve fuel scarcity issues, power supply problems, and reckless driving on our roads?”

“This is a democracy. Let all the flowers bloom.”

“ Witches don they get spokesman. I thought the law forbids anyone from belonging to a secret society, a cult and so on.”

“Well, as it is the white witches association is no longer a secret society. They are now in the open. Don’t be surprised if very soon they advertise vacancies for membership.”

“God forbid.”

“Siddon there, dey talk. You’d be surprised how many media houses will collect the adverts, and publish, get paid for services rendered, and claim that this is a democracy.”

“Hmmm”

“See. Smell the coffee. The thing is that even this thing called government is a kind of witchcraft. White, black and red witchcraft combined; that is what is called government!”

“And that’s why we need spiritual redemption.”

“Keep sermonizing. Were you not in this country when during the last general elections, the National Association of Prostitutes also issued a statement on how the elections should be organized?”

“Prostitutes also have a spokesperson? No shame?”

“It was their President that spoke. They even promised free sex. But I wouldn’t know if they made good on that offer.”

“Wait oh.”

“What?”

“I am trying to remember something.”

“What is that?”

“These your witches and wizards, didn’t they also make certain predictions during the last elections?”

“I don’t remember”

“They did. They openly endorsed President Jonathan. They said they didn’t see any vacancy in Aso Rock in their crystal ball, and they pledged their support.”

“May be the spirits changed and the witches also changed.”

“Ha!”

“It is called change. Once they wave that their broom”

“Witches use broom?”

“Yes. Once they wave that their broom over their magical pot… but let me just advise you, don’t go about questioning the wisdom of witches. It can be dangerous.”

“I am a child of Light.”

“Whatever you are, just know that when a witch strikes you…you can’t do anything to witches. Nobody can catch the air.”

“You are beginning to sound as if you are one of them. And if you are not, well, you may end up becoming a witch yourself.”

“Me? No.”

“It is like you like them.”

“I am just saying in a democracy, you are bound to see all kinds of things. That is why it is a democracy.”

“I know. That is why Donald Trump is getting good ratings in the US Presidential race.”

“Let’s leave witches alone, I beg.”

“But what have they said about this coming year, 2016?”

“How?”

“Any predictions?”

“You don’t need witches to predict any new year. I can do it myself.”

“I said it. There is something you are not telling me. I wasn’t talking about witches. I was referring to the pastors who always look into the future.”

“Dey there. You don’t need to be a witch or a pastor to make predictions. When I reviewed some of my own projections for 2015, I was almost 80% accurate. You just need to learn how it is done.”

“How?”

“Okay, let me assist you. See in the year of our Lord, 2016, care must be taken in the aviation industry to avoid air mishap. In the course of the year, two prominent Nigerians must pray seriously against bereavement in their families. Two Governors are likely to face the threat of removal from office. And a former state Governor should be careful not to lose his son-in-law. I see fire outbreak in two major markets, North and South, with many casualties. Two First Class Traditional Rulers are likely to join their ancestors before the month of June. Some directors in the public service will lose their positions. I see earthquake occurring somewhere in the Pacific. There will be a boom in the Agriculture Sector. 2016 is going to be a year of bountiful harvest. More lives will still be lost to Boko Haram violence. The Naira will remain unpredictable….”

“What kind of crystal ball do you use, if I may ask?”

“What crystal ball does your Pastor use?”

“My Pastor doesn’t use a crystal ball. He is filled with the Holy Spirit.”

“Many of these Pastors predict so many things and they don’t even get it right. And yet this year again, they will sell books of predictions to their congregation.”

“My own Pastor is a man of God. He is always at least 85% accurate, every year.”

“Well, I have made my own predictions too. You can either believe me or you believe your Pastor; you choose. But you’d see that I am always very accurate.”

“You are just using commonsense, my friend.”

“And what does your Pastor use?”

“There are people who have the gift of prophecy, they can see into the future. Don’t blaspheme.” “Don’t worry. When your pastor publishes his book of predictions, get me two copies, please. I am in a generous mood. I don’t have a problem helping him to make quick profit.”

“Only God can forgive you.”

“So, technically speaking, what are you saying?”

“I am saying, that technically, Nigeria will survive 2016, prophecy or no prophecy. God never forsakes his own people.”

“Okay. I understand, you mean technically, the current fuel scarcity will end.”

“Yes”

“And technically, power supply will improve, and we will not have any more Dumsor.”

“What is Dumsor?”

“ That is how technically, the people of Ghana, describe persistent power outages.”

“But how do our people describe it?”

“They say technically, all our problems will be defeated.”

“You mean, technically, all Nigerians will become prosperous in 2016?”

“Yes”.

“Actually, come to think of it, everything is technical.”

“Oh, certainly, once you understand the technique of the technicality.”

“Like the announcement that the pump price of fuel will be reduced to N85 per litre in January 2016?”

“Yes! You got it! Technically!”

“But I have been buying fuel at N130 per litre.”

“That is the technicality”

“I am confused.”

“That is because you don’t have a gift for technical things.”

“Like witchcraft, yes.”

“Don’t worry, you’d learn. Just have an open mind.”

“But look at this other matter. Even international airlines including British Airways, are now threatening to reduce their flights to Nigeria by early 2016.”

“So?”

“They say they can’t get aviation fuel in Nigeria and that the scarcity of foreign exchange has slowed down the Nigerian economy.”

“They should go and sit down. Otherwise we will give them the MTN treatment. Who is asking foreign airlines to start analyzing Nigeria’s 2016 Budget? If they like let them reduce all their flights. We will defeat those foreign airlines, technically. In fact, Nigerians will start traveling to Europe, Dubai, wherever, by road. Nonsense!”

“What?”

“Yes, London by road, why not?”

The Man To Be Edo State’s Next Governor- Oshiomole

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said that someone who believes in the State and has the capacity to manage it will emerge as candidate of the All Progressives Party (APC) and win the votes of the people as the Governor in the 2016 gubernatorial election in the State.

The Governor disclosed this while addressing Benin Palace chiefs, led by Chief John Oviasogie, the Eribo of Benin, who paid him a courtesy visit in the Government House. He said he is concerened about who will emerge as the party’s flagbearer just like any other member of the party, assuring that there will be a level-playing field for all.

Receiving the chiefs, Governor Oshiomhole said, “from my inner insight of what this job entails, I believe we should look for people who believe in the State and have the capacity to run it. We have the right to educate the people about the person whom we think will be safe. Be rest assured that I am as concerned as yourselves because we have seen the damage which the wrong driver can do to our collective vehicle. Everything is the same, the only difference is the person who heads the government. May God give us a governor that will put Edo people first, that will respect the traditional institution and that will work for the unity of our people across the 192 wards.

“As I have said repeatedly, I think all of us must work together to ensure that we have a governor who, first and foremost, believes in Benin, and who believes in the State, because if someone does not believe in the State, and he has power, he will help himself. Running a government is different from running a private enterprise. When you are working for a government, the interest is the people of the State. The second is to have the capacity to manage finances prudently because you may wish to do your best, but you cannot give what you don’t have. If you don’t have the brain, if you don’t have the knowledge and you don’t have the capacity, you will not be able to do it. So, we need people who can apply resources creatively.

“We haven’t solved all the problems, but we have made a lot of progress, and I am sure if the next governor will continue from where we will stop, for eight years of uninterrupted progress, I am sure that Benin Kingdom will be wearing a complete new look.”
