Mother Shoves Crucifix Down Daughter's Throat Because She Thought She Was Possessed

A woman has killed her daughter by shoving a crucifix down her throat because she thought her daughter was possessed, police say.

Juanita Gomez, 50, allegedly shoved the crucifix and religious medallion down her daughter Geneva's throat and confessed to police who had come to her Oklahoma City home Saturday afternoon on a welfare check.

Gomez reportedly told cops she began suspecting her daughter was 'possessed by the devil' the day before, and police noted that the mother had bruises and swelling on her hands and arms.

The mother said that she pushed the religious medallion down her 33-year-old daughter's throat until she saw blood come out.

The police report states that the mother then said she placed her daughter's body in the position of the cross and washed her.

Police found a large cross on top of Geneva's body and major trauma to her face and neck.

Juanita also admitted punching her daughter several times. She said the bruises on her hands were from trying to 'rid Satan from her daughter's body.'

She was charged with homicide and remains in jail on no bond.

Naming Dog Buhari Has Nothing To Do With The President- Police

President Muhammadu Buhari has been dissociated from the case involving a man who named his pet dog ‘Buhari’ by the Lagos Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police

The police, in a statement dated August 29 and signed by the zonal Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the ‘Buhari’ in question was not President Buhari .

According to the police, a son to the Alhaji Buhari had reported the case to the police claiming that the arrested Igbo man was referring to his father. Continue....

Adejobi, in the statement, said “The attention of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali, has been drawn to series of uncomplimentary comments and publications in respect of the case of a man, Joe Chinakwe, who was arrested and charged to court by the Ogun State police command for naming his dog “Buhari” and wishes to state categorically that the matter was grossly misconstrued.”

Adejobi further added that “the zonal command wishes to clarify and set the records straight that the case, as it was erroneously perceived, has nothing to do with the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, but with one Alhaji Buhari, the biological father of the complainant, Alhaji Halilu Umar, all of Ketere Area, Sango Otta in Ado-Odo Otta Local Government Area of Ogun State.”

He continued saying, “Also, it’s fundamental to state that the man was not charged to court for christening his dog ‘Buhari’, but for the behaviour of the suspect and circumstances surrounding the matter when Mr Joe, who had been having conflicts with his neighbour (complainant) named his dog, Buhari, his neighbour’s father’s name inscribed Buhari on both sides of the said dog, and started parading the dog with swagger amongst his neighbours and/traders who are mostly Northerners.”

“The said Joe was actually attacked by the people around for his action before he was rescued by the police. The timely intervention of the police prevented a crisis or inter-tribal crisis in the area.

“The zonal command, therefore, seeks the understanding of members of the public on the action of the man, which was capable of causing a breach of public peace, an offence the man, Joe Chinakwe, was actually charged for under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code.

“The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Lagos, AIG Absulmajid Ali, appeals to the general public to understand the action of the police in the matter, which is in consonance with the primary duties of the Nigeria Police as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and accept it as a professional way of preventing total breakdown of law and order.”

Dad Slaughters Three Young Children, Wife In Bloody Murder-Suicide

This is the family at the centre of what police suspect to be bloody murder-suicide. Alan Hawe is believed to have slaughtered his wife and three young children before turning the knife on himself.

Police found a man in his 40s, his wife, who was in her 30s, and their three sons, aged 13, 11, and six, at the County Cavan home dead.

Teacher Alan Hawe, from Barconny, in Ballyjamesduff, stabbed his wife first before knifing his three boys at the family home this morning.

Local man Mr Hawe, who is well known in the area, is believed to have turned the knife on himself after killing his partner and three boys.

Heartbreaking images emerged this evening as several coffins were removed from the house and placed into a waiting convoy of hearses.

A source said: “Alan Hawe was well known in the area and was well respected because of his work in the school and also in GAA circles.”

In a press briefing at Ballyjamesduff Garda Station, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said two of the deceased were found in a downstairs room and three were found upstairs.

A Garda spokesman said: "The Garda investigation is ongoing but at this stage we are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths."

At a press conference, Assistant Commissioner O'Driscoll added "We believe all the answers are in that house.

"We are working along very definite lines of inquiry.

"One person in that house may have been responsible for the death of the others."

10 things we learnt from Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg during his visit to Lagos this afternoon (photos)!

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is at the CoCreation Hub, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria at this very moment.

He arrived this afternoon and is meeting with a few key players in the Nigerian tech world to discuss how Facebook can be improved in Nigeria, and how it can support tech development in Africa.

Here are 10 things we learnt from the Billionaire Business Guru's Question and Answer session with the key payers in the tech world.

1. “ Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough.”

No, he is not encouraging those with a penchant for breaking stuff in the anger to carry on doing so as if it is normal behaviour. It is not! He is basically saying, challenge the norm; don’t acknowledge limitations or in Naija lingo Never ever stay in your lane. Forge new tracks for your own lane.

2. “ The question I ask myself like almost every day is, ‘Am I doing the most important thing I could be doing?'”

Valid question. Are you? No, not Mark Zuckerberg; we know he’s pretty much figured that out. Are you dear reader, doing the most important thing you could be doing with your life, your abilities, your passions for yourself and society? Wait. Don’t answer just yet- think on these things.

3. “People don’t care about what you say; they care about what you build.”

He said it, not I. Actions speak louder than words. You cannot keep mouthing off with no evidence to show for it. Take time to build; invest in the foundation of your building, your systems, your relationships. A house built upon the sand will crumble.

4. “The biggest risk is not taking any risk.”

There is nothing else to add. Res ipsa loquitur

5. “Simply put: we don’t build services to make money; we make money to build better services.”

Perspective. Perspective. Perspective. Think, why do you do what you do? Why are you in business? To make profit, to solve problems, make a difference, what? Let your motive be right.

6. “I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.”

Thank you, O Wise One. People, when a dozen projects are dropped in your lap with an impossible timeline, MZ says start with what’s easier. If you begin a Start-up, and a million things are calling for your attention at the same time, the trick: do what’s easier first.

7. “The Hacker Way is an approach to building that involves continuous improvement and iteration. Hackers believe that something can always be better, and that nothing is ever complete.”

Innovate. Create. Try new things. Stay ahead of the curve. Stay ahead of the competition. That’s how electricity was discovered. It’s how the internet came to be. It’s how drones and other new technology were made. Believe in your crazy ideas.

8. “We look for people who are passionate about something. In a way, it almost doesn’t matter what you’re passionate about.”

Passion is the fuel that drives the mission. Find your passion and plug it into something.

9. “You are better off trying something and having it not work and learning from that than not doing anything at all.”

Loose the fear of failure. It’s a noose around your neck. Do it afraid.

Ex-Head Of State, Others Named In $1.09b Malabu Oil Deal

Some prominent Nigerians have been named as beneficiaries of the $1.092b Malabu oil deal. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) is investigating the scandal.

A businessman, who is being grilled by the EFCC over the deal, is believed to have named a former Head of State, a former Senate President, a former National Security Adviser (NSA), some senators, and some serving and former members of the House of Representatives.

All the suspects may soon be invited for interrogation by the EFCC to determine their level of complicity, The Nation learnt at the weekend.

Besides the businessman, the EFCC has grilled a former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, and some chief executives of some International Oil Companies (IOCs). The suspects remain unnamed because of what a source described as the “sensitivity” of the matter.

The businessman may serve as a key witness because of his “deep insights”, the source said.

“The list is outside six former ministers who the EFCC was closing in on as at press time.

“We are looking into the accounts of some of those named in line with the timelines of the bribery,” an other source said, adding:

“Preliminary investigation has shown that the nation was shortchanged in the controversial $1.092bbillion Malabu Oil Block deal (OPL 245).

“At the appropriate time, we will begin interaction with all those connected with the Malabu Oil block deal.”

The EFCC is seeking the whereabouts of $1,092,040billion paid by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Limited (SNEPCO) and Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited (NAE) into an escrow account.

By the terms of Block 245 Resolution Agreement, Shell agreed to the release of the outstanding Signature Bonus and to appoint an escrow agent for paying the Federal Government $1,092,040billion.

It was learnt that NAE contributed $982,040,000 to the settlement. SNEPCO contributed $110,000,000 to make up the required $1,092,040billion for the Federal Government to settle all claims over OPL 245 in accordance with the agreement.

There were fears that the $1,092,040billion in an escrow Account was “used for the settlement of the FGN-Malabu Oil Limited agreement on OPL 245.”

The EFCC is trying to find out whether or not the cash was paid to the government or if the appointed escrow agent managed the $1,092,040billion and shared the cash to some beneficiaries for the settlement of dispute between the government and Malabu Oil Limited.

A former Permanent Secretary, who was quizzed by the EFCC, has been quoted as saying:

“I did not benefit from Malabu Oil in cash or kind. The memo I wrote was only in line of duty as a civil servant based on the directive of the supervising Minister. Some of us can beat our chest any day that we served this nation selflessly.

“Beyond the official memo, I had no contact with any person or group in whatsoever manner. Any action taken was in the best interest of this nation.

“The Minister also acted on a judgment by an international court in directing that a request for approval for payment to Malabu Oil Nigeria Limited be made to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.”

The controversy over OPL 245(Malabu Oil Block deal) started in April 1998 during the administration of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

But it spread to the governments of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Besides the judgment of a Federal High Court, the Federal Government of Nigeria(FGN) faced the challenge of an ICSD Arbitration instituted by Shell Nigeria Ultra Deep Limited(SNUD) in which the company was claiming in excess of $2billion damages from the FGN for wrongful revocation of OPL 245 previously granted to it.

There were agreements between FGN and other parties on the oil block on November 30, 2006 and April 29, 2011.

Following fresh issues, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on June 17, 2013 directed that the complaints of Malabu Oil and Gas be looked into.

The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari developed interest in Malabu Oil deal following the ruling of a London Court judge, Justice Edis of the Southwark Crown Court, London, on December 14, 2015.

The judge stopped payment of N17billion to Malabu Oil and Company.

The judge said he was “not sure that the Goodluck Jonathan administration acted in the interest of Nigeria by approving the transfer of the money to Malabu.

He said: “I cannot simply assume that the FGN which was in power in 2011 and subsequently until 2015 rigorously defended the public interest of the people of Nigeria in all respects,” the judge ruled.”

Samson Siasia to NFF- Pay me every kobo I'm owed,I've really endured

The Nigeria Football Federation officials have stated that they are not expecting any letter of resignation from the national U23 coach, Samson Siasia, as his contract ended with the Rio Olympics.

Speaking to Punch ,Siasia on Sunday corroborated the NFF statement of his contract having ended but demanded that his outstanding salary be paid him. He said,

“This is not really resignation; my contract was arranged to end with the Olympics. And so the contract has ended.

“What is very important is that I get every kobo that I am owed. I need the money now than ever and I believe I have really endured and I have been cooperative.”

The coach who just won the Olympic bronze in Rio this month did not however completely deny the resignation story that made the headlines by the weekend.

“I spoke with a reporter but I guess the one who are referring to was extracted from the interview I granted somebody else. What I was asked was my entire story at the Olympics and this included Atlanta camping.

“Of course a lot of things happened that I can’t be really happy about especially the way the team was portrayed. But that is over as my contract has also actually ended. What is left now is my cash and that is very, very important,” he said.

Siasia and his friends are hoping that the FA should be able to sort out his bills quickly as they have been able to appoint a new coach from Germany for the Eagles.

An official of the federation who spoke to Punch said they treated the coach and his players as best as they could under the situation they found themselves.

“But if you are asking about getting any letter, we have not received any and we don’t expect any. The usual deal is with the All Africa Games and then running through the Olympics and that is what he has completed. There is no immediate U23 competition and so he couldn’t have continued,” he said.

This Airport worker died after sex with girlfriend

A clearing agent, Mr. Sikiru Olanrewaju, has lost his life after leaving his wife and children at home to have fun with his girlfriend in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that 37-year-old Olanrewaju died shortly after having rounds of sex with his lover on Surulere Street.

The lover was said to have raised the alarm which drew the attention of residents, including the landlady, who reported at the Oke-Odo Police Division.

The victim’s corpse was deposited in a morgue pending the conclusion of investigations.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased worked with an aviation company at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

He said, “The man was married, but he had a girlfriend who lived in Abule Egba. On August 23, he had finished from work when he called her on the telephone that he would be sleeping at her place.

“The girlfriend said she told him not to come because he was married, but he insisted on passing the night at her house.

“The lady said when he got to her place, they ate the same food and drank the same water. They had sex, after which they slept.

“She said around 5am, she woke up to go to work and discovered he was stiff. She said she tried hard to wake him up, but he didn’t respond. She said she was too confused to know what to do and waited for about three hours before raising the alarm, which drew the attention of people, including the landlady.”

The resident said the landlady reported at the station, and was followed by some operatives to the apartment where the incident happened.

PUNCH Metro was told that there was no mark of violence on the victim.

A source said Olanrewaju’s family were immediately contacted and the police broke the news to them.

She said, “The family said they don’t want the police to investigate anything. They said they had received the news in good faith and that the corpse should be released for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. I am not sure his wife has been informed because she did not follow them to the station. But obviously, she will not receive the news well.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.

She said, “The man was allegedly found dead in a room in the Abule Egba area after spending the night with his girlfriend. A team of police detectives from the Oke-Odo Police Division visited, examined, and photographed the scene. We discovered that there was no trace of violence on the body. The corpse has been deposited in a morgue.”

China Joins UN In Condemning North Korea's Ballistic Missile Tests

China has joined the 14 other members of the UN Security Council in strongly condemning North Korea for test-firing ballistic missiles.

The Security Council issued a statement, agreeing to take "significant measures" in response to the latest series of launches. North Korea has test-fired several ballistic missiles in July and August, including one from a submarine towards Japan on Wednesday.

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said the submarine-launched missile test was the "greatest success", putting the US mainland and the Pacific "within the striking range". But Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the missile breached his country's Air Defence Identification Zone and condemned what he called an "unforgivable, reckless act" and a grave threat to Japan's security.

Parading Of Suspects Is Unconstitutional – Lawyers

Some Lagos-based lawyers have condemned parading of arrested suspects by the police, saying it is unconstitutional and damaging to the person involved.

They said that often those paraded were innocent and in the event of their being pronounced innocent by the courts of competent jurisdiction, the police never re-parade them.

Mr Olawale Apanisile, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that parading suspects undergoing investigation was illegal and could not be justified.

Apanisile said that parading suspects before the public and media as criminals was damaging to the reputation and personality of the individual.

He said that it was a violation of Section 34 (1) and 36 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.

According to Apanisile, Section 34 states that every individual is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person and (1) (a) no person shall be subject to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment.

“In a bid to show to the public that the police are working and are up to the task of safeguarding the country, they display suspects like medals and trophies to the media,’’ he said.

The lawyer said that during arrest, investigation and arraignment, the accused should be treated with respect as they were presumed innocent until proven guilty.

“The police and other law enforcement agents should treat an accused the same way they will treat any other law abiding citizens.

“Most Nigerians do not know their fundamental human rights, but if the police had been slammed with law suits by paraded suspects, then such impunity will not be the order of day.

“Some who know their rights are too scared to press charges,’’ he said.

He urged human rights activists to educate and come to the aid of the populace to put an end to the practice of media trial by the police.

Pastor E. A. Adeboye donates house to parents of quadruplets

One of the most exciting testimonies of the just concluded 64th national convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, which began on August 1 and ended on August 7, 2016 was the delivery of a set of quadruplets. Mrs. Nkechi Uche was delivered of the three boys and one girl through Caeserian session at the Redeemer’s Health Centre, Redemption Camp.

It was learnt that the wife of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor (Mrs.) Foluke Adeboye, is supporting the Uche family which now has four boys and three girls to cater for.

Contrary to claims about the state of health of the babies, the source stressed that Mrs. Uche as well as the three boys and one girl are strong and bouncing. Amongst other things, Pastor (Mrs) Adeboye, he said, has donated a two-bedroom flat to the family in one of the estates within the Redemption Camp while frantic efforts are on-going to secure a new job for the children’s father.

“The first family of the”, RCCG believes that children are gifts from the Lord; they are rewards from Him. Happy therefore is the man whose quiver is full of them for he will not be put to shame”, the source said.

41-year-old Best Friends in tears after Discovering that they were Switched at Birth | Watch

Leon Swanson (left) and David Tait (right)

Two 41-year-old best friends have broken down in tears after being told they were switched at birth, at a hospital in Norway House Cree Nation, Manitoba, Canada.
According to CBC News , they spent their lives with each other’s biological family.
Leon Swanson and David Tait Jr. were born three days apart at the Norway House Indian Hospital which was then run by the federal government.
Swanson was born on January 31, 1975, and Tait on Februray 3, 1975. They were then given to the wrong mothers.
Tait’s biological mother is Charlotte Mason, but he was raised by Francis Tait. Swanson’s biological mother is Francis Tait , but he ended up being raised by Charlotte Mason
Mason said she was transported to hospital in Winnipeg after giving birth due to complications during delivery. Three days later, Francis Tait gave birth to a baby who they believe was wrongly sent home with Charlotte Mason’s mother.
According to CBC News:
This is the second case of infants at the Norway House Indian Hospital being switched at birth in 1975.
Last November, Luke Monias and
Norman Barkman from Garden Hill First Nation came forward after DNA results confirmed they were not the biological children of their parents. They were born in 1975, five months after Swanson and Tate, at the same Norway House hospital.
This case influenced Swanson and Tait’s decision to get DNA tests done because they had suspected that they too were switched at birth. They both had similarities they shared with each other’s families.
“What happened here is lives were stolen. You can’t describe it as anything less than that,” said Eric Robinson , a former NDP member of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly for Keewatinook at a news conference.
“I can’t describe this matter as anything less than criminal. We can live with one mistake, but two mistakes of a similar nature is not acceptable, so we can’t simply slough it off as being a mistake, indeed it was a criminal activity in my view,” he added.
Tait said everyone affected wants answers as to how such a switch could happen.
“We don’t have words,” he said. “Forty years gone … just distraught, confused, and angry.”
According to a statement by Canada’s Federal Health Minister Jane Philpott , a third-party investigation will be undertaken to try to get to the bottom of what happened.
“Given these latest developments, the department will be moving quickly to engage the services of an independent third party to do a dedicated and thorough investigation of all available hospital records from the period to determine what happened and whether there is any other cause for concern beyond the two cases identified.
The results of this review will be made public. Cases like this are an unfortunate reminder to Canadians of how urgent the need is to provide all Indigenous people with high-quality health care. The government of Canada remains deeply committed to renewing a nation-to-nation relationship with all Indigenous peoples. I offer my sympathy to the families in this difficult time,” the statement read.
“They have every right to know why this has happened to them,” Robinson, speaking on the third-party investigation, said.
“It’s going to be challenging, there’s going to be ups and downs, and there’s going to be a lot of hurt and pain as the story unfolds more,” he added.
Robinson said Norway House has always been the “birthing centre” of northern Manitoba because it was the only northern community that had a hospital in the 1970s.

FG MAY PROBE SANUSI, SOLUDO’S TENURES AT CBN

*To exhume FRCN’s report on Sanusi

A probe of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2007 to 2014 may be underway if the push by some forces within the government sails through, sources close to the administration have said.

The probe, if the authorities finally put a seal on it, would investigate the printing of naira notes under the watch of Professor Chukwumah Soludo and the management of CBN’s “surplus” finances under the watch of the incumbent Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.

The duo had managed the CBN at relative periods of boom but forces in government said that the policies they instituted did not appear to help in the fight against corruption in those eras.

Sources close to the administration stated at the weekend that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari would not close its eye to any perceived unwholesome practices in government notwithstanding the length of time.

“We believe that questions that have not been completely answered must be brought forward and clarified as a way of ensuring that the nation’s institutions do the right thing at all times.

The duo of Sanusi and Soludo had spoken against the drift in the economy last week, asking the administration to take immediate steps.

But a source said that the planned probe did not have anything to do with the current postures of the former apex bank bosses.

“If certain questions are left hanging by the past administrations, this should be the time to clear such issues since this administration is determined to fight corruption and corrupt tendencies. The move would also help any of the past officials to clear their names of any perceived wrongdoing,” the source said.

While Soludo’s tenure is to come under searchlight for the process of printing new naira notes, the tenure of Sanusi is to come under the searchlight over the distribution of forex earnings to bureau de change operators as well as the report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) which raised several allegations against Sanusi.

The 13-page report of the FRCN which was relied upon by the Federal Government to suspend Sanusi from office in 2013 had alleged that the former CBN governor spent N1.257 billion on lunch for policemen and private guards in 2012.

The council also alleged that Sanusi as CBN governor made huge payments to airlines for currency distribution, while also allegedly holding an account balance of N1.423 billion for an unidentified customer since 2008

Ezekwesili Says Army Has Killed Shekau 4 times but hasn’t rescued Chibok girls

Obiageli Ezekwesili, leader of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, says the military has “triumphantly” announced the killing of Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram, on four occasions yet it hasn’t managed to rescue the abducted Chibok girls.

On Tuesday, the military said an unprecedented and spectacular air raid “fatally wounded” Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram leader, in his shoulders.

“Those Boko Haram terrorists commanders confirmed dead include Abubakar Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman, amongst others, while their leader, the so-called ‘Abubakar Shekau’, is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders.

Several other terrorists were also wounded,” Sani Kukasheka Usman, spokesman of the army, had said.

But in a march to the presidential villa on Thursday, the BBOG movement said time had completely run out and a decisive action was needed to rescue the abducted girls.

“Another key issue in the last 72 hours is the military’s announcement that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, was fatally wounded during air raids,” Ezekwesili said.

“We want it on record that this is at least the fourth time the Nigerian state has triumphantly announced killing this fellow.

“Today, day 864 since the abduction of our girls, time has completely run out. It is time to take decisive action and bring them home. No more delays.”

She said the group could no longer sit and watch humanity debased.

Yakubu Enoch, father of the abducted girl identified as Dorcas Yakubu, who spoke in a recent video clip released by the insurgents, lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari had refused to listen to the parents of the abducted girls.

“The last time we came to the villa the way you even attended to us showed that you were frustrated; you were not happy with us. Are we not Nigerians or don’t you have a special interest in the girls?” Enoch asked.

“As it happened to Chibok it can happen to any place. If Buhari feels he cannot work, please let him release us. Let him get down and give it to somebody.”

I really thought I was going to die | Virgin boss, Richard Branson, almost killed in bike crash horror

VIRGIN boss Sir Richard Branson is recovering after almost being killed in a horrific high-speed crash.

The billionaire, 66, crashed his bike while training for the gruelling Virgin Strive Challenge with his children Holly and Sam on the British Virgin Islands.

Sir Richard, who suffered a cracked cheek and some torn ligaments in the freak accident, was rushed to a Florida hospital for treatment.

Discussing his brush with death on Wednesday night, he said:

"I really thought I was going to die. I went flying head-first towards the concrete road.

"But fortunately my shoulder and cheek took the brunt of the impact, and I was wearing a helmet that saved my life.

"My bike went flying off the cliff and disappeared. We've since recovered the crumpled bicycle, completely destroyed."

"My cheek has been badly damaged and my knee, chin, shoulder and body severely cut."

The incident comes just a few months after the mogul, known for his love of daredevil stunts, had a run in with a deadly stingray.

He added:

"My attitude has always been, if you fall flat on your face, at least you're moving forward. All you have to do is get back up and try again.

"At least I'm practicing what I preach – though a little too literally! The date of the accident just happened to be the fifth anniversary of the fire on Necker Island."
